My Comment

I usually am reluctant to recommend literature that promises the safe path to riches, but I did check out Darren Rowse’s web site, and everything I saw made sense. This book is a compilation of his blog entries. I liked the section where he explains that only 1% of bloggers will be able to reach a six-figure income. He has reached the level where he currently is with hard work and perseverance. Reading this book is definitely worth the money and time. Whether or not it makes you rich is entirely up to you.

On the same day when I wrote this review I applied at Text Link Ads, an affiliate advertisement business, as recommended by the author. I was somewhat surprised that they did not accept my personal blog at frogenyozurt.com. One of the complaints was that it did not receive enough web hits. According to my statistics I receive – at the time of this writing – roughly 20,000 page views through roughly 2,000 unique visitors per month, and I deemed that very good. Another complaint was that I already have Amazon advertisement on my website.

So, not everything that is described in this book actually works. In a year from now I might be able to re-apply, but not without removing the ads first.

I also followed another recommendation, i.e. signing up with Chitika.com. I should have a response from them in about 3 to 4 weeks, and I will post the result here as well.

The truth about Chitika

On May 14, 2010 I finally received a negative answer from Chitika:

“We would like to apologize for the delay in your Chitika application review for account.  As we prepare to transition to a new upgraded version of Chitika, we are temporarily holding off on approving new domains and accounts. Note: We are currently running an exclusive beta test on the new upgraded Chitika ads for large/ComScore 500 domains.  If you are earning more than $10,000 USD per month from advertising on your domain (with AdSense, direct advertisers, etc.), please send us an email, or give us a call to speak with a Chitika team member.”

Officially, I would like to reverse my opinion on Problogger.net! Some of the information posted there is actually good, but Darren Rowse fails miserably when it comes to giving tips on creating income. It just doesn’t work as he describes!
